Peter Schweyer, Pennsylvania House Education Committee Majority Chairman, praised Mumin’s contributions, particularly during recent changes to the state’s basic education funding system.

“Since becoming the Chair of the House Education Committee, Dr. Mumin and I have enjoyed a positive working relationship with the common goal to support and enrich Pennsylvania students as well as the teachers and faculty in our education system,” Schweyer said in a statement. “I genuinely appreciate his help and wish him the best on his future endeavors.”

Angela Fitterer has been named the interim Secretary of Education. Schweyer congratulated Fitterer on her appointment and pledged support from the committee during the leadership transition.

“The House Education Committee and I remain fully committed to working with you and the Department of Education during and after this transition,” Schweyer added.

Schweyer represents Pennsylvania's 134th Legislative District, which includes portions of Allentown, Emmaus Borough, and Salisbury Township in Lehigh County.
